Pittsburgh, May 12-- Professional, full-contact roller hockey is coming to the RMU Island Sports Center this summer with the debut of Major League Roller Hockey’s Super League.
Major League Roller Hockey (MLRH) has announced that the Pittsburgh Steel will play their home games at the Neville Island facility. MLRH teams play an 8-game season plus playoffs, June through early September.
The MLRH Super League is the world’s only full contact, roller hockey league and the Steel will compete with the DC Filibusters, Detroit Phoenix, Chicago Dogs, Pennsylvania Inferno and the Ohio River Monsters in the Super League East Division.
Super League rosters are composed of elite roller hockey players, college ice and roller hockey players and teams are allowed to roster professional ice hockey players.
Pro roller hockey is a wide open, 4 X 4 game, played in four, 12-minute quarters. Christian Scott is the acting GM for the Steel and interested players are invited to contact him at christianscott92@gmail.com
MLRH President Bill Raue said that the Super League was created to provide affordable, family entertainment and that, while tickets are sold, much of the revenue is returned to local youth hockey programs.
